For Aadi Sharma, moving to High Wycombe Cricket Club wasn’t a decision made lightly.
Coming from Great Brickhill, the young batsman had his eye on a team where he could make a real impact, especially after his recent signing of a rookie contract with Northants CCC.
When he spoke with AJ Woodland, the opportunity at Wycombe started to become a possibility; playing for a club which battles for top of the league every year. Woodland’s interest in Aadi as a player was evident, the decision to sign made slightly easier with Callis and Marles venturing onwards, leaving a spot for a strong top-order batter to join Wycombe.
“Wycombe became an easy choice after speaking to AJ,” Aadi shared. “He made it clear they were looking for batsmen, and after discussing a few things about the club, I realised it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass. Wycombe’s success and their drive to become a professional outfit were the key reasons behind my move.”
For Aadi, one of the most exciting parts of joining High Wycombe is the prospect of fully immersing himself in the club's culture. Joining a club to continue in his professional development is key, using Wycombe facilities and coaching staff, as well as surround himself with professional athletes. Sharma explained how he's eager not only to deliver pitch and contribute with the bat, but to celebrate the club’s successes together off the pitch and embrace the HWCC social side too.
“Getting to know the team and the club as a whole is something I’m really looking forward to. Hopefully, we’ll have plenty of reasons to celebrate this season.”
One player Aadi is incredibly excited to team with is Cameron Parsons—someone he’s thankful to have as a teammate rather than a competitor this season. “Tough one, but I’d have to say either Hempy or Cam,” Aadi grins.
“I’m just glad I don’t have to play against Cam anymore.”
As he prepares for the 2025 season, Aadi has clear goals in mind. With a rookie contract at Northants CCC, he’s focused on breaking into the first team and making his mark.
“With Northants, it’s about trying to break into the first team and going from there,” he explains.
Meanwhile, at High Wycombe, his ambitions are equally high. “I’d love for us to challenge right at the top of the table. Hopefully, I can play a big role in Wycombe winning games.”
As Aadi steps onto the field in Wycombe colours, there’s no doubt he’s ready to bring his best to both the club and further his career.
Chris Sketchley, HWCC Chairman, was delighted to announce the signing of Aadi Sharma. He hopes that his success at County Cricket with Northants will be a fantastic edition to High Wycombe 1XI batting order. “It is an absolute pleasure to sign Aadi. He is a quality batsman with immense talent and has been rewarded for his hard work with a contract at Northants. Aadi has already performed well for Bucks and came through the Bucks pathway and we anticipate his style of play will complement our first team perfectly.”
