For Dan Lincoln, joining High Wycombe Cricket Club feels like a natural progression in a career that has already spanned county and national honours. As the captain of Berkshire CCC, The Challengers, and the England XI, Lincoln’s move to Wycombe has been years in the making—and now, the timing feels perfect.
“Sketch and I have been in contact for a very long time,” Dan shared. “We’ve met numerous times to talk about cricket—not just Wycombe, but the game as a whole. This move has been lined up for several years now, and the time is finally right for me to join the club and be part of a new project they’re embarking on. To work alongside Sketch is very exciting, as we share many similar ideas on development and progression inside the game.”
For Lincoln, the opportunity to work with a fresh group of players is one of the most exciting aspects of the move. “I’m looking forward to meeting and working with a new group of players,” he said.
“I’m naturally drawn to change. While that can sometimes be seen as daunting or even negative, I see it as a chance to meet new people and expand my knowledge of the game. There's so much to learn just by speaking and listening to new ideas from new faces.”
Dan’s answer reflected his commitment to nurturing the club's future when asked who he's most excited to play alongside. “The plan is to integrate young Wycombe talent into the top two sides. I look forward to working with the youth players, helping them learn on the job, and supporting them alongside the current key, experienced players already on the side. It’s about building a foundation for the future.”
Chairman, Chris Sketchley was particularly fond on Lincoln’s determination to work alongside the young talent pool at High Wycombe, especially as they transition into 1xi Cricket.
“With a young team and new captain Lincs will add much needed maturity and I totally believe we will be a much stronger side than last season with him in it”
Looking ahead to the next 12 months, Lincoln’s goals are less about personal achievements and more about the club’s long-term growth.
“I don’t set myself personal goals,” he explained. “I focus on improving my skills yearly and maintaining that hunger to improve as a player. I hope to see young, upcoming players at Wycombe become permanent fixtures on the senior side. The long-term aim must be a completely self-sufficient youth program—producing and holding on to our talent and elevating them into the First XI. Competing for trophies with a majority homegrown team would be the ultimate success.”
Club Captain, Harry Lane described his joy with the signing of Dan Lincoln, particularly “Dan's winning mentality, professionalism and knowledge are invaluable for our players to have access to across the club in the years to come, as we look to develop our next crop of talented players throughout the club. “
“With Lincs joining the club alongside Aadi Sharma, the future is very bright with our already very strong first team squad”
With Dan Lincoln on board, High Wycombe CC is gaining a player of immense talent and an experienced player who can help shape the club’s future.
Chris Sketchley described Dan Lincoln as “quite simply one of the best club cricketers in the country. His ability as a batsman and wicket keeper is equalled by his strategic knowledge of the game and we as a club will tap into this.”
