After Wycombe had won the HCPCL 2023 undefeated, the success story travelled borders as Hemp was eying up the possibility of playing cricket in England rather than in Wales for further opportunities within the professional game.
“AJ reached out at the start of the year. I’ve heard great things about the club and the success they’ve had over the last few years.”
AJ Woodland and Cameron Hemp have regularly competed against one another in the NCCA competition for Bucks and Wales respectively. Hemp was additionally selected to be a part of the winning England XI squad who travelled to the Malaga Oval, Spain this year alongside Wycombe off-spinner Conner Haddow.
“It’s one of my proudest moments,” Hemp added in an interview with ETDC Digital Media.
Hemp had an impressive year for Swansea CC in 2023, accumulating 739 runs and a top score of 125 against Cardiff. That was just shy of his previous best in 2022 of 152* against Clevedon CC.
“I’m really looking forward to winning lots of games and hopefully picking up some silverware,” Hemp said.
Hemp is one of two new signings for the High Wycombe 1st Xi this year, Max Uttley - another England XI player - having joined earlier this year.
